UW-Milwaukee grad and this month’s featured director Samuel Kasper looks back on the importance a rowboat brought to his impressiveĀ La Relacion
The rowboat was an essential prop and set piece. It was the most difficult prop to get ahold of.
I ended up buying a broken one from a small boat shop in Green Lake, Wisconsin. It was a personal project that one of the employees of the shop had given up on.
I poured many hours into getting her seaworthy, growing very attached to it and to the notion of being a boat owner.
It proved an invaluable tool, doubling as both a metaphor and transportation for the crew. If I had known its ultimate destination, I would not have become so attached.
- La RelacionĀ plays Wed, Nov 30 at the Central Library (201 W. Mifflin St) in Rm 302 at 6:30p. Director Samuel Kasper will appear in-person for a post-show Q&A. FREE.
