Madison Public Library and LakeFrontRow.com conclude their 2014 “LakeFront Cinema” series on Thursday September 25 with a presentation of Brandon Colvin’s feature-length drama Sabbatical.
At once an isolating and intimate exercise in dramatic minimalism, Sabbatical premiered at this past Wisconsin Film Festival to great acclaim. Jake Smith at Madison Film ForumĀ dubbedĀ SabbaticalĀ a film “of stylistic poise, honest performance, and astonishing control,” and the Capital Times’ Rob Thomas countedĀ it among the festival’sĀ best in new indie cinema. Before playing at the New Orleans Film Festival this October, Madison audiences will get a secondĀ chance to see this impressive sophomore effort.
A PhD candidate at the University of Wisconsin, Brandon is among Wisconsin’s most disciplined and talented young directors working today. He’ll also appear in person for a post-screening Q&A.
