Between Madison Film Forum, Arts Extract, and LakeFrontRow, we’ve been doing our best to provide you with plenty of material in time for the Wisconsin Film Festival, but all the writing in the world can’t make opening night come any closer. For some cinephiles, April 3 2014 might as well be a year from now.
Thankfully, the Madison Public Library has a temporary fix for your film festival jones. On Friday March 21st at 7:00p, you can catch an advance glimpse of this year’s lineup in an exclusive “sneak peek” event at the Pinney, Sequoya, and Central Branch Libraries. Festival staff will personally introduce forthcoming films and present over an hour’s worth of select trailers. Staff members will also be on hand to answer any questions festival newbies might have, from where they can purchase tickets to how to best plan their festival experience.
“I think this partnership event is a wonderful avenue to strengthen and expand both [Madison Public Library]’s and the Arts Institute’s/Wisconsin Film Festival’s presence in our community,” said Pinney Branch Librarian Jaime Vaché in an email earlier this week. “[The event] provides the library as a venue and librarian & arts professionals together as facilitators for community expression.”
The festival’s Managing Director, Christina Martin-Wright, will host the Central event, while Senior Programmer Mike King and Director of Programming Jim Healy will host the Pinney and Sequoya Branch events, respectively. If you can’t make it to one of three branches on Friday, the Alicia Ashman Branch is holding an additional event at 2:00p on Saturday, March 22 with more family appropriate content.
- Admission is FREE but space is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early. You can find more information on the Madison Library’s website.
